Welcome: Good morning. I am quite curious when the Atlantic will flare up with tropical systems. Will there be a lot of them in the next few months? I would say so. I do recall Hurricane Irene or Sandy from when I was little. Though, it is a faint memory. The air quality and haze these past few days has been quite annoying. All the smoke from the forest fires travels out here. The rain usually helps clear it up...

I remember Sandy all too well – I was living in New York City at the time. We lived on high ground, so we escaped the worst of it (just lost power for a day), but we had numerous friends who lost their homes. 😦 And getting around was almost impossible – flooded streets and subways, then the severe gas shortage. Followed by a freak snowstorm! Fingers crossed for a quiet hurricane season this year!
