Welcome: Good morning. Today will be a briefing-type post. We have a lot to talk about. Today is going to feature some dangerous weather. While next Friday may feature our big snowstorm. Before I can talk about next Friday I must talk about today. Winter keeps giving us surprises…

Alert: Wind Advisory in effect for all of Berkshire County from 10:00 AM today through 10:00 PM tonight.

Set-Up: As a very strong cold front moves through New York and eventually the Berkshires, it will have some convective elements. Those are things that cause thunderstorms and tornados, so pretty much severe weather. However, because it is so cold, there will be snow squalls instead. So pretty much severe weather of the winter.

Timing: Scattered to widespread snow showers in the morning will turn to scattered snow squalls this afternoon. It should all be done by this evening.

Snow: During snow squalls, there will likely be heavy snow and wind. Conditions will rapidly deteriorate. Between a coating and 3 inches of snow, is expected today.

Peak Wind: 15 to 25 mph, with gusts to 50 mph, coming from the West.

Blowing Snow: Scattered blowing and drifting snow is expected.

Hazards Summary: It will be very dangerous to travel at times. Whiteout conditions are likely in snow squalls. Isolated tree and power line damage may occur due to wind.

Anything Else: I hope you all stay safe. Please comment on what you see, thank you. Have an amazing day. I hope all goes your way. So let today be your very best day. Cheers everyone!
