Welcome: Good afternoon. Today will be a briefing-type post. I am successfully back from seeing my 100-year-old great-grandma. I have been studying this storm and I think it will be the biggest snowstorm this winter for the Berkshires…
Alert: A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for all of Berkshire County from 11:00 PM tonight to 10:00 PM tomorrow night.
Uncertainty: Right now the uncertainty remains how far west does the main storm go and does a second storm form? If a second storm forms then how strong will it be? These are the challenges in forecasting.
Timing: Snow should start late tonight and will be heavy. It may turn to sleet for some of us tomorrow morning but will turn back to snow tomorrow afternoon. It all ends late tomorrow night.
Snow: Widespread heavy snow is expected. Generally, 8 to 12 inches is expected. However, some spots may only reach 6 inches and some other spots could reach 14 inches!
Sleet: Scattered heavy sleet is possible, sleet amounts are part of snow amounts.
Freezing Rain: Not expected.
Peak Wind: 10 to 15 mph, with gusts to 30 mph, coming from the East.
Blowing/Drifting Snow: Isolated blowing and drifting snow is possible.
Hazards Summary: It will be very dangerous to travel. Please bring emergency supplies if you are traveling tomorrow. It will be extremely slippery.
Snow Day Calculator: Not available.
Anything Else: I hope you all stay safe. Please comment and like, thank you. Have an amazing day. I hope all goes your way. So let today be your very best day. Cheers everyone!
So glad you got to visit your Great Grandma! And thank you for all your weather predictions!
