Thursday/March/2/2023

Welcome: Good morning. As with most potential major storms this winter, tomorrow night’s storm is expected to mix with sleet. However, the key question is, how far north does the warm air get? I expect at least some of us will have sleet. As a snow lover I hope for no sleet, this is because it cuts back on snow totals…

Alert: A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect, for both Berkshire County and Bennington County, until 9:00 AM today.

A Winter Storm Watch will go into effect, for Bennington County, starting 6:00 PM tomorrow and going until 7:00 PM Saturday.

Timing: Scattered snow will be possible tomorrow afternoon. Snow becomes widespread and heavy tomorrow night. At some point some sleet or rain could mix into the snow. We all end with a few snow showers Saturday night.

Snow: Widespread snow is likely. I expect 4 to 8 inches of snow for areas south of Pittsfield. For Pittsfield and north I expect 8 to 12 inches of snow. A few lucky spots could even receive 12 to 16 inches of snow. Snow amounts are highly dependent on how much sleet mixes in.

Sleet: Scattered sleet is possible. Sleet amounts are calculated into the total snow amounts.

Freezing Rain: Not expected.

Rain: Isolated rain is possible. Little to no rainfall expected.

Thunder: Not expected.

Peak Wind: (Tomorrow night and Saturday) 15 to 30 mph, with gusts to 50 mph. Coming from the East.

Low Temperatures During the Event: (Friday night) The upper 20s.

High Temperatures During the Event: (Saturday) The upper 30s.

Blowing/Drifting Snow: Not expected.

Snow Day Calculator: A few early releases are possible, but the storm will likely come to late. Pittsfield Public Schools already have a 1/2 day on Friday, but that has nothing to do with the storm.

Hazards Summary: Roads will be slippery and dangerous. Heavy snow and strong winds could cause tree damage and power outages.

Anything Else: I hope you all stay safe. Please comment and like. Thank you. Have an amazing day. I hope all goes your way. So let today be your very best day. Cheers everyone!

Thursday/February/23/2023

Welcome: Good afternoon. My original thoughts a few days ago were correct. I did indeed receive more sleet than freezing rain or snow. I am unable to give specific amounts, as the sleet, small bit of snow, and freezing rain just merged together. It looks like snow, but feels like ice. I would advise you all to be extremely cautious today and tonight…

Alert: A Wind Advisory will go into effect, for Berkshire County, starting 5:00 AM tomorrow and going until 7:00 PM tomorrow night.

Timing: Widespread freezing drizzle is expected throughout the day today. As we move into this evening, freezing rain can be expected. Finally, into the night brings freezing rain and/or plain rain. Tomorrow features gusty winds, but no more precipitation.

Snow: Isolated snow is possible. Little to no accumulation expected.

Sleet: Isolated sleet is possible. Little to no accumulation expected.

Freezing Rain: Widespread freezing rain is likely. Most should receive up to 1/10 of an inch of ice.

Wednesday/February/22/2023

Welcome: Good morning. We will have a mix of precipitation for this storm. In the end, if it does turn out to be an ice storm, totals will vary from house to house. I believe there is a good chance this will be mainly sleet and/or freezing rain. If it turns out to be all rain or all snow, I would be pretty shocked…

Alert: A Winter Weather Advisory will go into effect, for both Berkshire County and Bennington County, starting 4:00 PM today and going until 1:00 PM tomorrow.

Timing: Scattered snow during the day today will transition to widespread snow in the evening. At night a wintry mix will develop and will continue into Thursday night. By Friday morning everything should have ended. During this evening into tonight some snow could fall steadily to heavily at times.

Snow: Widespread snow is likely. A coating to 3 inches of snow is likely. However, some in Bennington County could receive 6 inches.

Sleet: Widespread sleet is likely. Sleet amounts are calculated into snow amounts.

Freezing Rain: Widespread freezing rain is likely. Most should receive between 1/10 and 1/4 of an inch of ice. However some could receive less and some could receive more.

Rain: Scattered rain is likely. Rainfall should not exceed an inch.

Thunder: Not expected.

Peak Wind: (Thursday night) 15 to 30 mph, with gusts to 45 mph. Coming from the West.

Blowing/Drifting Snow: Not expected.

Snow Day Calculator: Most schools are currently on vacation.

Hazards Summary: Roads will likely be dangerous at times. If ice amounts that are forecasted do occur, or if higher ice amounts occur, scattered power outages and tree damage will be possible. The more ice received, the more dangerous this event will be. Be careful.

Anything Else: I hope you all stay safe. Please comment and like. Thank you. Have an amazing day. I hope all goes your way. So let today be your very best day. Cheers everyone!
