Monday/April/18/2022

Welcome: Good morning. Today will be a briefing-type post. We will be dealing with an elevation dependent type storm, so snow amounts will vary from place to place a lot more with this one. Here are the details…

Important: This storm depends on elevation and the storm track. Uncertainty still remains in how far west the storm will go. Furthermore uncertainty remains how cold it will be in the valleys. So many possibilities are still possible.

Alert: A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 8:00 PM tonight to 11:00 AM tomorrow for Northern Berkshire County (Pittsfield and northwards) and Bennington County.

Timing: We should all start as rain this evening. Late tonight we will turn to either rain and snow or just snow. Tomorrow mid to late morning is when the snow or rain snow mix will turn back to plain rain. It all ends by tomorrow evening.

Snow: A coating to 1 inch is expected in the lowest valleys. 1 to 3 inches is expected in the valleys. 2 to 4 inches is expected in the hills. Finally, 4 to 6 inches is expected in the mountains. A few may reach 8 inches if they live on extremely high mountain peaks.

Sleet: Not expected.

Freezing Rain: Not expected.

Peak Wind: 15 to 25 mph, with gusts to 45 mph. Coming from the East Southeast.

Blowing/Drifting Snow: Not expected.

Snow Day Calculator: Not available.

Hazards Summary: It will be slippery. Some power outages and tree damage will be possible due to wet snow and wind. Wet snow is heavy so take breaks while shoveling.

Anything Else: This storm is highly dependent on track and elevation so the lower you are means less snow, while the higher you are means more snow. The track still may change so be prepared. Have a great day.

Sunday/April/17/2022

Welcome: Good morning. Today will be a briefing-type post. Winter makes it’s triumphant return, possibly. We may be dealing with an April snowstorm, so let’s get into the details with this sudden surprise…

Important: This storm may just be a rain maker with some snow. However knowing how unpredictable this winter has been I have to consider it could be a storm. So depending how cold it is, it may be rain or snow.

Alert: None, yet.

Timing: The event will start Monday night and go through Tuesday night. Some will stay all rain. If you are higher in elevation and have colder temperatures you will have more snow. So snow will likely mix in during Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Snow: A coating to 1 inch is expected in the lowest valleys. 1 to 3 inches is expected in the valleys. 2 to 4 inches is expected in the hills. Finally, 4 to 8 inches is expected in the mountains and mountain peaks.

Sleet: Not expected.

Freezing Rain: Not expected.

Peak Wind: 10 to 20 mph, with gusts to 30 mph. Coming from the East Southeast.

Blowing/Drifting Snow: Not expected.

Snow Day Calculator: Not available.

Hazards Summary: It will be slippery. Some power outages and tree damage will be possible due to wet snow and wind.

Anything Else: This storm is highly dependent on track and elevation so the lower you are means less snow, while the higher you are means more snow. The track still may change so be prepared. Have a great day.

How the grass smells and how the clouds look its like you’re in a mystical book. So when the rain starts to drain and the grass starts to dry. All the magic seems to die. But then I think that it is so good to let the moisture wane because it means in a few days there will be more rain. That was a poem by me…
