Welcome: Good morning. I did not get much yesterday. I got a light accumulation of ice and then a little sleet and snow mix. Though it was slippery. What did you get? Please comment the answer to my question. Thank you.

Friday/Februaury/4/2022
Welcome: Good morning. Today will be a briefing-type post. Many schools have canceled due to ice and sleet. More ice accumulation than previously thought, here we go…
Alert: A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Northern Berkshires, while a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Southern Berkshires, they both end at 5:00 PM today. Remember Pittsfield and northward are northern. While Lenox and Southward are southern.
Timing: Our cold front has moved through. Temperatures are dropping. At any moment if it is still raining it could turn to ice. Be careful. Depending on where you are it looks like an icy mix of sleet or freezing rain this morning and then snow or sleet this afternoon. With it all ending tonight.
Snow: Scattered to widespread wet snow is expected. Generally, 1 to 4 inches of snow and sleet is expected for total accumulation.
Sleet: Widespread sleet is expected with some falling heavy. Sleet accumulation is part of snow accumulation.
Freezing Rain: Widespread freezing rain is expected with some falling heavy. A tenth of an inch to a half an inch is expected for total accumulation.
Peak Wind: 5 to 10 mph, coming from the north.
Blowing Snow: Not expected.
Hazards Summary: It will be dangerous to impossible to travel in some spots. Very slippery conditions are expected. Ice could cause power outages and tree damage.
Snow Day Calculator: I give an 80% chance of a snow day today.
Anything Else: I hope you all stay safe. Please comment and like, thank you. Have an amazing day. I hope all goes your way. So let today be your very best day. Cheers everyone!

Welcome: Good morning. Today will be a briefing-type post. I want to give a big shout-out to my sister because today is her birthday. Happy birthday! This storm will be interesting. There are potentials for heavy snow, ice, and sleet accumulation for different areas of the county. Let’s dig in…
Alert: A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Northern Berkshires from 5:00 PM today to 5:00 PM tomorrow. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Southern Berkshires from 7:00 PM today to 5:00 PM tomorrow. Remember Pittsfield and northwards is northern county. While Lenox and southwards is southern county.
Set-Up: Our cold front will stop or become very slow. Depending on where this occurs could determine how much snow, ice, and sleet falls. After the front moves through I predict warm air will be moved away quicker than previously thought because arctic air always wins.
Timing: Tonight will change to a wintry mix. This will occur quicker to the north and slower to the south. Next early tomorrow morning there will be a change from ice to sleet and/or snow. Finally, mid-morning is all snow where it could fall heavily and will end tomorrow night.
Snow: Widespread wet snow is expected with some falling heavy. Generally, 1 to 6 inches is expected. Though some 8-inch spots are possible on the Vermont border. More snow north less south.
Sleet: Widespread sleet is expected with some falling heavy. Sleet amounts are part of snow amounts.
Freezing Rain: Widespread freezing rain is expected with some falling heavy. A tenth of an inch to a quarter of an inch is expected. However, a few spots may reach half an inch.
Peak Wind: 10 mph, with gusts to 25 mph, coming from the north.
Blowing Snow: Not expected.
Hazards Summary: It will be dangerous to travel. Very slippery conditions are expected. Poor visibility is also expected due to heavy snow and sleet. Ice could cause power outages and tree damage.
Snow Day Calculator: I give a 76% chance of a snow day tomorrow.
Anything Else: I hope you all stay safe. Please comment and like, thank you. Have an amazing day. I hope all goes your way. So let today be your very best day. Cheers everyone!

Welcome: Good morning. Today will be a briefing-type post. Our stalled cold front could have more of an impact than I expected. The key question is who gets snow, who gets sleet, and who gets freezing rain? These are the very important questions…
Alert: A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for all of Berkshire County from 4:00 PM tomorrow to 5:00 PM Friday.
Set-Up: Our cold front will stop or become very slow. Arctic cold dry air will be ushered in behind while warm moist air in front. We may actually be under the cold front. So we will have a battle of warm vs cold. When this happens heavy precpitation can occur.
Timing: Thursday night will have some rain in the evening followed by a wintry mix late at night. This wintry mix will transition to heavy snow and/or sleet Friday morning. It will still snow and sleet through out Friday until the evening. This is when it will gradually depart from the Berkshires.
Snow: Widespread heavy snow is expected. Generally, 4 to 8 inches is expected. Though some 12-inch spots in the northwestern-most part of Berkshire County. Also some 3-inch spots in the southeastern-most part of Berkshire County.
Sleet: Widespread heavy sleet is expected. Sleet amounts are part of snow amounts.
Freezing Rain: Scattered to Widespread freezing rain is expected. A light glaze to a quarter of an inch of ice is expected.
Peak Wind: 5 to 10 mph, with gusts to 25 mph, coming from the north.
Blowing Snow: Isolated blowing snow is possible.
Hazards Summary: It will be dangerous to travel. Very slippery conditions are expected. Poor visibility is also expected due to heavy snow and sleet.
Snow Day Calculator: I give a 75% chance of a snow day on Friday.
Anything Else: I hope you all stay safe. Please comment and like, thank you. Have an amazing day. I hope all goes your way. So let today be your very best day.

Welcome: Good morning. I want to give a big shout-out to my dad. Have a great birthday! May the force be with you. Also since it is a celebration I am testing out wind direction now on this post. Remember wind direction is where the wind is coming from, not going. If you have questions please comment. Thank you.
Discussion: I am watching a cold front that will stall or stop near us and some little low pressure (low pressure usually is associated with more messy weather) areas may form. Depending on where it tracks all types of precipitation right now are possible…

Saturday/January/29/2022
Welcome: Good morning. Today will be a briefing-type post. Another storm that so far has not produced much snow. Though east of the Berkshire’s it is pretty bad. Up to 3 inches per hour out near Boston, they say…
Alert: Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for all of Berkshire County until midnight tonight.
Set-Up: Now our storm is off the coast near or passing Nantucket soon. It is rapidly strengthening and may produce a second storm behind it. This will keep it snowing here.
Timing: It is snowing lightly to possibly steadily for most. It should continue through this afternoon where it will slowly become snow showers. It all gradually ends tonight.
Snow: Widespread snow is expected. You can generally expect 3 to 6 inches. Maybe a few 7-inch spots in the southeasternmost part of Berkshire County. Also maybe some 2-inch spots in the northwesternmost part of Berkshire County.

Welcome: Good morning. Today will be a briefing-type post. Our first widespread winter storm may happen. Please do your snow dance and let winter give us snow, thank you…
Alert: Winter Storm Watch in effect for all of Berkshire County from late tonight to tomorrow evening.
Set-Up: As our southern energy (think of it as a southern storm) meets with our northern energy (think of it as a northern storm) they will phase (which means merge) into a large very powerful bomb cyclone (which means to lose 24 millibars of pressure in 24 hours.)
Timing: Uncertainty remains how far west this storm will go and if a second storm will form somewhere. Right now snow showers will start tonight and turn into steadier snow tomorrow with gusty winds. Tomorrow night things should all move away.
Snow: Widespread snow is expected. You can generally expect 5 to 9 inches. Lower amounts in the northwestern-most part of the Berkshires while higher amounts in the southeasternmost part of the Berkshires.
Sleet: Not expected.
Freezing Rain: Not expected.
Peak Wind: 15 to 25 mph, with gusts to 45 mph.
