I have learned the Pittsfield Public Schools will be closed today due to the extreme weather.
Timing: The arctic cold-front has moved through. When I went to bed last night it was in the upper 20s, now it is in the lower 10s and falling. As the day moves on winds will pick up and the temperatures will just keep dropping. Tonight will be the peak of the event, and everything should begin to calm down tomorrow afternoon.
Wind Chills: We can expect wind chills to range between the negative 20s and negative 30s during the day today. Tonight wind chills will be in the negative 30s to negative 40s, with some reaching the negative 50s. Tomorrow will feature the wind chills of the negative 30s and 40s.

Timing: Late tonight, an arctic front will move through the region. This may bring some heavy snow showers or snow squalls. Once it moves through, the arctic air will move in. Wind chills will become dangerous early tomorrow through Saturday afternoon. Wind chills will become colder throughout the day Friday and will begin to diminish Saturday afternoon.
