Wednesday/January/25/2023

Welcome: Good morning. We have a lot to discuss. I believe if you live in the eastern part of the Berkshires or eastern part of Bennington County you could see some impactful ice accumulations. We will have to see what plays out today and tonight…

Alert: A Winter Storm Warning will go into effect, for Bennington County, from 10:00 AM today going until 7:00 PM tomorrow.

A Winter Weather Advisory will go into effect, for Berkshire County, from 10:00 AM today going until 1:00 AM tomorrow.

Timing: Isolated snow this morning can be expected across the area. Widespread steady to possibly heavy snow can be expected for the afternoon. A wintry mix of ice, snow, and rain is expected for the evening. Rain is expected late at night. Tomorrow will feature scattered rain and snow showers. It all moves out tomorrow night.

Snow: Widespread snow is likely. I expected a widespread 2 to 4 inches of snow for most people. Some people on the eastern parts of the Berkshires and Bennington County may receive 4 to 6 inches, with the possibility of 8 inches not out of the question.

Sleet: Isolated sleet is possible.

Freezing Rain: Scattered freezing rain is likely. I expect less than 1/10 of an inch of ice to accumulate for most. Yet again some people on the eastern parts of the Berkshires and Bennington County may receive 1/10 to 2/10 of an inch of ice, with 1/4 of an inch not out of the question.

Rain: Widespread rain is likely. I expect less than 1 inch of rainfall.

Thunder: Not expected.

Peak Wind: (Tomorrow afternoon) 15 to 30 mph, with gusts to 50 mph. Coming from the West Southwest.

Blowing/Drifting Snow: Not expected.

Snow Day Calculator: 10% chance of a delay for Berkshire County tomorrow. 20% chance of a delay for Bennington County tomorrow.

Hazards Summary: Travel will be slippery for all, and dangerous for some. Snowfall rates will likely be near or exceeding 1/2 an inch per hour this afternoon and this evening. Remember, sometimes you may think you see a puddle, but it is actually ice. Be cautious on roads.

Anything Else: I hope you all stay safe. Please comment and like. Thank you. Have an amazing day. I hope all goes your way. So let today be your very best day. Cheers everyone!

Tuesday/January/24/2023/PM Update

I just wanted to give a super quick update. I have just learned that the Pittsfield Public School District has called a half day for all students tomorrow Wednesday January 25. This is due to the earlier onset of the predicted snow. This means that other schools may call an early dismissal/half day for tomorrow.

Just to also make sure you all understand, the Pittsfield Public Schools have also cancelled all after school activities tomorrow too. One final note, Allendale Elementary in Pittsfield will be closed all day tomorrow due to a sewage blockage and no running water. I hope this information helps. Cheers everyone.

Tuesday/January/24/2023

Welcome: Good morning. In total I got about 8 or 9 inches of snow depending on the area I measured. I also noticed some tree damage and I briefly had a power outage. We have another storm coming in, but this one will likely be not all snow. There is a chance that some in Bennington County see mostly snow, but it looks like even there some rain should mix in…

Alert: A Winter Storm Watch will go into effect, for Bennington County, from 1:00 PM tomorrow going until 7:00 PM Thursday.

A separate Winter Storm Watch will go into effect, for Berkshire County, from 11:00 AM tomorrow going until 4:00 AM Thursday.

Later in the nigh the snow will begin to mix with rain or freezing rain. Thursday morning will feature scattered rain and by Thursday night it is all done.

Snow: Widespread snow is likely. I expect 5 to 8 inches of snow for everyone. Some may reach 1 foot in the higher elevations of Bennington County.

Sleet: Isolated sleet is possible.

Freezing Rain: Scattered freezing rain is possible. I expect less than 1/10 of an inch of ice to accumulate.

Rain: Widespread rain is likely. I expect less than 1 inch of rainfall.

Thunder: Not expected.

Blowing/Drifting Snow: Not expected.

Snow Day Calculator: 28% chance of an early dismissal tomorrow, or 84% chance of after school activities being cancelled tomorrow.

Sunday/January/22/2023

Welcome: Good morning. We have a potential major storm about to impact us. The key question is: can temperatures stay below freezing the whole event? Timing: Scattered rain or snow throughout today will transition to mainly all snow tonight for Northern Berkshire County (Pittsfield and north) and the higher elevations of Bennington County.

Southern Berkshire County (Lenox and south) should stay a rain/snow mix through the whole event.

Bennington and Northern Berkshire County should stay mostly snow the whole of the event. Everything moves out by tomorrow night.

Snow: Widespread snow is likely. For Southern Berkshire County I expect 2 to 4 inches, with some possibly reaching 6 inches. For Northern Berkshire County and Bennington County, I expect 5 to 8 inches, with some possibly reach a foot or more.
