Welcome: Good morning. We have a potential major storm about to impact us. The key question is: can temperatures stay below freezing the whole event? I am pretty certain that for at least some, temperatures will stay below freezing. To quote the song, “Let it snow, let is snow, let it snow.” Here are the details below…

Alert: A Winter Storm Warning will go into effect, for Northern Berkshire County (Pittsfield and north) and Bennington County, from 7:00 PM tonight going until 5:00 PM tomorrow.

A Winter Weather Advisory will go into effect, for Southern Berkshire County (Lenox and south), from 7:00 PM tonight going until 1:00 PM tomorrow.

A Snow Emergency is in effect for Pittsfield, going until 7:00 AM Tuesday.

Timing: Scattered rain or snow throughout today will transition to mainly all snow tonight for Northern Berkshire County (Pittsfield and north) and the higher elevations of Bennington County.

Southern Berkshire County (Lenox and south) should stay a rain/snow mix through the whole event.

Bennington and Northern Berkshire County should stay mostly snow the whole of the event. Everything moves out by tomorrow night.

Snow: Widespread snow is likely. For Southern Berkshire County I expect 2 to 4 inches, with some possibly reaching 6 inches. For Northern Berkshire County and Bennington County, I expect 5 to 8 inches, with some possibly reach a foot or more.

Sleet: Some sleet could mix in.

Freezing Rain: Not expected.

Rain: Scattered rain is likely.

Thunder: Not expected.

Peak Wind: 10 to 20 mph, with gusts to 30 mph. Coming from the North Northwest.

Blowing/Drifting Snow: Not expected.

Snow Day Calculator: 68% chance of a snow day on Monday for Northern Berkshire County and Bennington County. 52% chance of a snow day for Southern Berkshire County.

Hazards Summary: Travel will be dangerous tonight, tomorrow morning, and tomorrow afternoon. Please be aware that uncertainty still remains, if expected temperatures change then the snowfall amounts will change too.
