Welcome: Good morning. It seems that yet again warm air got in quicker than expected. It was also very dry so the snow did not reach the ground in time to cool it more. So less snow came. Maybe we will have our giant snowstorm this winter at some point…
Alert: A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for all of Berkshire County until 10:00 PM tonight.
Timing: Snow and sleet should continue through this morning. Then this afternoon we will have a changeover back to all snow. Finally, it all ends tonight.
Snow: Widespread snow is expected. Generally, 5 to 8 inches are expected in total. However, some spots may only reach 4 inches and some other spots could reach 10 inches.
Sleet: Scattered sleet is possible, sleet amounts are part of snow amounts.
Freezing Rain: Not expected.
Peak Wind: 10 to 15 mph, with gusts to 35 mph, coming from the East Southeast.
Blowing/Drifting Snow: Not expected.
Hazards Summary: It will be dangerous to travel. It will also be slippery. Take breaks while shoveling so you do not hurt your back.

Thursday/February/24/2022
Welcome: Good afternoon. Today will be a briefing-type post. I am successfully back from seeing my 100-year-old great-grandma. I have been studying this storm and I think it will be the biggest snowstorm this winter for the Berkshires…
Alert: A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for all of Berkshire County from 11:00 PM tonight to 10:00 PM tomorrow night.
Uncertainty: Right now the uncertainty remains how far west does the main storm go and does a second storm form? If a second storm forms then how strong will it be? These are the challenges in forecasting.
Timing: Snow should start late tonight and will be heavy. It may turn to sleet for some of us tomorrow morning but will turn back to snow tomorrow afternoon. It all ends late tomorrow night.
Snow: Widespread heavy snow is expected. Generally, 8 to 12 inches is expected. However, some spots may only reach 6 inches and some other spots could reach 14 inches!
Sleet: Scattered heavy sleet is possible, sleet amounts are part of snow amounts.
Freezing Rain: Not expected.
Peak Wind: 10 to 15 mph, with gusts to 30 mph, coming from the East.
Blowing/Drifting Snow: Isolated blowing and drifting snow is possible.
Hazards Summary: It will be very dangerous to travel. Please bring emergency supplies if you are traveling tomorrow. It will be extremely slippery.
Snow Day Calculator: Not available.
Anything Else: I hope you all stay safe. Please comment and like, thank you. Have an amazing day. I hope all goes your way. So let today be your very best day. Cheers everyone!

Welcome: Good morning. Today will be a briefing-type post. Our storm is going to have big impacts across the Northeast and New England. Right now it looks like one storm that will not be very strong. However, we will have to watch if this storm gets stronger than expected or if a second storm forms…
Alert: A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for all of Berkshire County from 10:00 PM tomorrow (Thursday) to 10:00 PM that day after tomorrow (Friday).
Timing: It seems that snow will start for all sometime Thursday night. It may turn into sleet if you are south of the Mass Pike during Friday morning. However, there is still uncertainty about the sleet. All in all, snow will fall heavily for most of the event. It all ends Friday night.
Snow: Widespread snow is expected, with 6 to 12 inches of snow accumulation.
Sleet: Isolated sleet is possible, sleet amounts are part of snow amounts.
Freezing Rain: Not expected.
Peak Wind: 5 to 15 mph, with gusts to 35 mph, coming from the East.
Blowing/Drifting Snow: Isolated blowing and drifting snow is possible.
Hazards Summary: It will be very dangerous to travel. This could be the biggest widespread snow event this winter. Please bring emergency supplies if you are driving on side roads.
Snow Day Calculator: Not available.

Alert: None yet.
Timing: Depending on if a second storm starts or how far our first storm goes it will likely be all snow. Snow starts late Thursday night and will fall heavily. There is a chance for a wintry mix Friday morning but it seems unlikely at this time. All snow and wintry mix end Friday night.

Sleet: Isolated sleet is possible, sleet amounts are part of snow amounts.
Freezing Rain: Very isolated freezing rain is possible, up to a light glaze is expected.
Peak Wind: 5 to 15 mph, coming from the Northeast.
Blowing Snow: Not expected.
Hazards Summary: It will be very dangerous to travel. This could be the biggest widespread snow event this winter. I will keep you updated.
Snow Day Calculator: Not available.
