Tuesday/August/31/2021/6:30 PM

I just wanted to put out a quick note that the rainfall forecast seems to have a lot of rain falling very quickly tomorrow night. So I am concerned of the flooding potential. 2-4 inches is expected in all, however if the Remnants of Ida move farther north we could expect 4-6 inches of rain. Also 3 quarters of what we will be getting in all will fall tomorrow night. Finally a flash flood watch is now issued for all of Berkshire County from tomorrow afternoon to Thursday afternoon. Have a good night.

Fun Fact #1

Nor’easters are not named because they always impact the Northeast. It is actually that their wind comes from the northeast of it‘s low pressure center. So it is just a coincidence that they impact the Northeast.

Tuesday/August/31/2021

Next Week’s Forecast: Nothing major expected at the moment.

Tropical Forecast: We have four areas to watch.

1. Tropical Depression Ida will impact our area tomorrow and Thursday. Heavy rain is likely, Ida will then turn subtropical and leave the region because of an incoming frontal system.

2. Tropical Storm Kate is in the middle of the Atlantic. It poses little threat to anyone other than sailors near it.

3. A low pressure system is producing organized showers and thunderstorms. It is southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands. I give it a yes or 100% at development.

Notable Amounts: I got 1.22 inches of rain from yesterday‘s thunderstorms.

Anything to Mention: Have an amazing day.

Wind: Gusts up to 20 mph.

Sunday/August/29/2021

Welcome: Today will be a report on how Ida will impact us. Thank you to all who donated and supported my work yesterday. Also good evening.

Timing: Ida will start impacting us Wednesday and continue through Thursday.

Wind: Winds will not really be a threat unless the storm restrengthens into a subtropical storm or extratropical storm. Also if it moves north or if the pressure gradient between the high pressure and low pressure strengthens. So just gust up to 25 mph.

Rain: Isolated to scattered flash flooding because of the previous rain from Henri and Fred. Widespread 2 to 4 inches. Isolated amounts of 4 to 6 inches.

Tornado: Very isolated tornados if we are on the east side of the storm.

Summary: This storm will mainly bring lots of rain, heavy rain bands with gusty winds are possible. Power outages will be isolated. Have a good night.
